Bryan Taylor claimed the 888LIVE London £2,000 High Roller title at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino, defeating Andrew Hulme heads-up to collect the £42,410 top prize. The Scottish pro topped a stacked 80-entry field that produced a £136,800 prize pool, with only the top 10 finishers cashing.
The win carried personal significance for Taylor, who revealed that a close friend had asked him to “just win it” after burying his father on the same day. Taylor described the moment as emotional, noting he had experienced similar loss himself.
Day 2 saw notable eliminations including Julien Sitbon, Philippe Souki, 888 ambassador Lucia Navarro, reigning 888LIVE London Main Event champion Gang Wang, and Brandon Sheils. Pascal Pflock fell as the unfortunate bubble boy, losing a race to Chris Balmforth.
At the final table, Hulme built an early lead with multiple knockouts, including eliminations of Tomas Dailidonis, Neil Wallace, and Chris Balmforth. Taylor fought back with a key double-up through pocket aces against Hulme’s jacks before Hulme edged ahead again heading into heads-up play, 4,610,000 to 3,350,000.
Taylor dominated the heads-up battle, landing a significant river bluff to seize the chip lead before closing out the match when his ace-five outran Hulme’s ace-four.
The victory extends an outstanding 2026 for Taylor, who entered the week ranked first on the NPL leaderboard and second in the High Roller League standings, with 22 final tables already this year, including an April GUKPT High Roller title. He now turns his attention to the 888LIVE London Main Event, which begins with Day 1b on Thursday.
