World Series of Poker Circuit rings made their debut at Casino Malta, drawing players from across Europe for the Texapoker-organized festival. The series’ marquee event, the €1,500 WSOP Circuit Main Event, concluded after three days of play with Italy’s Luca Topazio emerging victorious.
Topazio outlasted a field of 879 entries, which built a prize pool of €1,115,451. His first-place finish earned him €200,000 along with a €5,000 package for the upcoming WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas.
In heads-up play, Topazio faced Radoslaw Kopec, who finished runner-up for the second consecutive year after also placing second at the WSOP Circuit Middelkerke Main Event. Topazio entered the final showdown with a commanding 5:1 chip lead and sealed the win in just two hands, completing a full house to close out the tournament.
This victory marks Topazio’s largest career cash, surpassing the €190,000 he won in an Italian Poker Tour Main Event sixteen years ago. Speaking through a translator, he credited his growth as a player for the deeper run this time, describing his approach as aggressive and designed to pressure opponents into shorter stacks.
The final table saw several dramatic eliminations, including Alberto Cigliano and Aleksandar Georgiev falling to big hands, while Matteo Ricco and Lucas van den Belt also fell short before Kopec and Topazio battled for the title.
Following his win, Topazio plans to compete in the Battle of Malta later this month, then head to EPT Prague in December before using his package to play WSOP Paradise.
