Daniel Negreanu came into the final day of Event #9: $26,000 NLH at the 2026 Poker Masters as chip leader, hoping to capture his 13th PokerGO Tour title. Instead, he was overtaken by American pro Nicholas Seward, who claimed his maiden PGT victory and a $412,500 payday.
Seward, who entered the event with $4.7 million in career earnings, called the win “really rewarding” given the buy-in level and his lack of a prior PGT title. He credited his support network of friends and peers for pushing him to succeed.
The final table featured a strong lineup, including Jesse Lonis, Matthew Wantman, and Sean Perry. Lonis, who had surged from a short stack the previous day, busted early when his king-queen lost to Seward’s jack-nine. Brandon Wilson exited in sixth after a three-way pot in which Negreanu flopped a set of tens.
Perry fell in fifth after missing a draw against Negreanu’s overpair, while Wantman, fresh off a Triton title last month, finished fourth for $175,000. Daniyal Gheba, making his fourth final table of the series, was eliminated in third by Seward after losing a big pot to Negreanu the hand before.
The heads-up battle between Seward and Negreanu stretched nearly two hours. A flush-over-full-house hand shifted momentum toward Seward, who eventually sealed the win when his king-jack defeated Negreanu’s king-ten.
The result keeps Seward in contention for the series’ Purple Jacket, now being decided in Event #10: $51,000 NLH. Negreanu, having confirmed he can no longer win the leaderboard, opted to skip the finale for a round of golf.
